The Day of Forever

A story I made for a school assignment, the title was chosen for me but I could write anything I wanted as long as there was a relation to the title. This is how I solved it. (To satisfy my own vanity, I would like to note that I got top marks for this essay.) The story is 2617 words, it'll take a moment to read. The Day of Forever The day was fading into night, as she climbed the hill. She looked over her shoulder, gazing upon the fields behind her. Farmland as far as eye could reach, a sight she’d seen many a time before, but perhaps it would be the last time this time. At least, that was what she hoped for. Even though she lived so near the hill, it was rarely she had time between the farm-work to actually go beyond it. Perhaps climbing it every once in a while, looking at the sunset, and imagining the lands beyond the horizon. The lands the sun was now going to shine upon. And now, finally, she was going to see them all. Looking over her shoulders yet again, a slight s...

Red Sea

This story is a piece in a four part story, named "the battle series" Note before you comment: The lack of information on names/appearances/locations etc, is intentional. This may be part of a series, but it was meant exclusively as practice on combat scenes. The story: ------------------------------------------------------------- Trapped. His quarry for the past few weeks had finally been cornered. The sea ahead, and enemies behind. There would be no escape this time. He looked to his left and right for support, but in three of his allies he found none, and as he and his closest companion stepped forward, his other companion held the only support he had back. The four looked expectantly at him then. What was this? A trial-by-fire, or merely fighting fair? It would be a one on one now, but it would never be fair like this. Even if they came at their opponent one at a time, by the third or fourth opponent, their enemy would be too tired to put up a real fight. He supp...

Red River

This may be part of a series, but it was meant exclusively as practice on combat scenes. The story: ------------------------------------------------------------- He was crouching behind a bush, but there was nothing to be seen or heard, not even animal sounds. He checked the string on his bow one more time. It was indeed still there, and it was indeed still strung. He knocked an arrow and drew the feather back to his ear. He had lost count of time – such small measures of time were just about impossible to keep track of without tools anyways. So he settled on being ready at any moment. He took deep breaths and started working up a focus. He needed that. He'd figured out a plan that could work, but it took skill. Probably, more than he had. A little while later, a party came galloping through the...

Red Rain

This story is a piece in a four part story, named "the battle series" Note before you comment: The lack of information on names/appearances/locations etc, is intentional. This may be part of a series, but it was meant exclusively as practice on combat scenes. The story: ------------------------------------------------------------- She ducked under the flashing blade swinging straight at her eyes, almost before she realized it was there. Immediately drawing her sword and stabbing to her left, before swinging it towards her right side, while getting back up in a standing position. It struck nothing. Attaining a guard right away, she finally took control over the actions she was making, instead of acting on training and instincts. Looking about, she found a rather large crowd of armed men, all of them with their weapons drawn, about five meters up the road. At about the distance a man could jump from the point where she was standing, there was another one. This was bad....

Red Fog

This story is a piece in a four part story, named "the battle series" Note before you comment: The lack of information on names/appearances/locations etc, is intentional. This may be part of a series, but it was meant exclusively as practice on combat scenes. The story: ------------------------------------------------------------- She was riding through the forest. Her horses hooves rustling over leaves, and braking twigs as it moved. She moved her left hand down to the hilt of her sword, before placing it back on the reins of the horse. The sword was still there. Not that she needed to feel it in her hand to know. She knew from the comfortable weight on her hip. Southerners looked down on people like her. But up here, in the north, she could do what she had been born too. Up here, she was told, that either she did what she was born too, or she could get back where she came from. He was supposed to be just a few hundred paces further up, but she could not see anythin...
